Salt Heart ("the game") is a free single-player pirate tap game for Android, published on Google Play, and for iPhone and
iPad, published on the App Store, by Make The Best Games ("we", "us"). It has optional in-app purchases and optional
rewarded video ads. This policy explains what data the game and the services built into it handle, why, and the choices
and rights you have. It applies to the game app com.makethebestgames.saltheart on Android, iPhone and iPad; where the
two differ, this page says so.
1. No account, no personal profile kept by us
The game has no sign-in and no account. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos,
files or precise location.
Your progress is saved only on your device: the save file, the order IDs of purchases already granted, your answer to
the ad privacy question, and your settings (sound, language, graphics quality, effects). If you use the save code in
Settings, the code stays wherever you paste it; we never receive it.
We run no server for the game and receive no data from it directly. Usage statistics go to Google Analytics for
Firebase (section 2); we only see aggregated reports in the Firebase console. Leaderboards and tournaments in the game are
simulated on your device; no data about you is sent to other players.
2. Data handled by services inside the game
The game includes the third-party services below. They process data under their own privacy policies.
Service
Why
Data it may collect
Google Play Billing on Android and the App Store (Apple StoreKit) on iPhone and iPad, both through Unity In-App Purchasing
Selling pearl chests and other in-game items
Purchase details (product, time, order ID) are processed by Google or Apple. The game keeps the order IDs of purchases it has granted on your device so a purchase is never granted twice. Payment details are handled only by Google or Apple; we never see them.
Unity LevelPlay (ad mediation) with the ad networks Unity Ads and Google AdMob
Optional rewarded videos: big parrot gifts, doubling your welcome-back gold, doubling quest rewards
On Android, the Advertising ID (or App Set ID). On iPhone and iPad, the advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you tap Allow in Apple's tracking question (section 3). On both: device and app information (model, Android or iOS version, language, app version), approximate location derived from the IP address, ad interactions (views, clicks, rewards), diagnostics (crash and performance data of the ad SDK). Used to show and measure ads, cap how often ads are shown, prevent fraud and, if you allow it, personalise ads.
Google Analytics for Firebase
Understanding how the game is played (where new players stop, which features are used, game balance) so we can improve it
A random ID created by Firebase for this install of the game (app instance ID); game events such as tutorial steps, stages reached, features unlocked, pearls earned and spent, packs bought and rewarded videos watched; device and app information (model, Android or iOS version, language, app version); country and region derived from the IP address (Google does not store the IP address); session times. On Android, if you allow personalised ads, the Advertising ID may also be used to measure ads. On iPhone and iPad, Firebase does not use the IDFA. Google keeps this data for the retention period set in our Analytics account (at most 14 months).
Unity engine diagnostics
Finding and fixing crashes
When the game crashes or hits an engine error: the error report and basic device and app information (model, Android or iOS version, app version). No game progress and no advertising identifier.
We do not sell your personal data. Sharing with the ad partner for personalised ads happens only if you allow it (see
section 3).
3. Your choices
Personalised ads: before the first video the game asks whether ads may be personalised. You can change your answer
any time in Settings > Personalized ads. "Non-personalised ads only" means the ad partner shows ads without building an
advertising profile and does not sell or share your data for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Apple's tracking question (iPhone and iPad): only if you choose "Allow personalised ads" in the game's question, iOS
then shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency question, which asks whether Salt Heart may track your activity across other
companies' apps and websites. The ad partner reads the IDFA only if you tap Allow. If you tap Ask App Not to
Track, or choose "Non-personalised ads only" (then the question does not appear), the IDFA is not shared, and the videos
still work. iOS shows the question only once; if you first choose non-personalised ads and later allow personalised ads in
Settings > Personalized ads, it appears then.
No videos at all: videos are always optional. When a parrot offers a gift, the game asks first: tap Skip and no
video plays. The game can be played fully without watching any.
Advertising ID: on Android, you can reset or delete it in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads (wording depends on the
device). On iPhone and iPad, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and switch off Salt Heart, or turn off
Allow Apps to Request to Track for every app; the game then gets no IDFA.
Usage statistics: advertising uses of the statistics (ad storage, ad user data, ad personalisation) follow your answer
in Settings > Personalized ads. To start over with a new statistics ID, clear the game's data in Android Settings >
Apps > Salt Heart > Storage, or on iPhone and iPad delete the app and install it again (either way this also deletes your
save on this device).
Purchases and refunds:Settings > Purchases lists your latest purchases with their order IDs and can restore a
purchase that did not arrive. Refunds are handled by Google Play on Android and by Apple on iPhone and iPad; see our
Refund Policy.
4. Legal bases (EU, UK and similar laws)
Your consent — personalised ads and, on iPhone and iPad, tracking through the IDFA. You can withdraw it at any time
in Settings > Personalized ads, and on iPhone and iPad also in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Performing our contract with you — granting the items you buy.
Legitimate interests — non-personalised ads that keep the game free, fraud prevention, crash diagnostics to keep
the game working, and usage statistics to improve the game.
Our partners may process data on servers outside your country (for example in the United States). They use the safeguards
required by law, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. Your rights and how to delete your data
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK GDPR, Vietnam's Decree 13/2023/ND-CP on personal data protection, or US
state privacy laws), you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its use, withdraw
consent, and complain to your data protection authority.
Data on your device (save, purchase records, ad answer, settings): uninstall the game or clear its data in Android
Settings > Apps > Salt Heart > Storage; on iPhone and iPad, delete the app (touch and hold its icon, then Remove App >
Delete App). This deletes it at once.
Data held by our partners (Google, Unity): email us at
thinguyendinh83@gmail.com with the subject "Salt Heart data request". Because we
hold no account for you, please include your Advertising ID (Android Settings > Privacy > Ads) so the partners can
find the data linked to it; iPhone and iPad do not show the IDFA, so there tell us your device model instead. For usage
statistics, also tell us roughly when you played, and we will ask Google to delete the data of the matching app instance.
We reply within 3 working days and forward the request to the partners, who complete it under their own policies
(usually within 30 days). You can also contact Google and Unity directly through the links in section 2.
App Store purchase data is held by Apple; you can ask Apple for it or for its deletion at
https://privacy.apple.com.
6. Children
Salt Heart is meant for players 13 and older and is not directed at children. The ad partner is told the app is not
child-directed. If you believe a child under 13 has used the game, contact us and we will help remove any data we can reach
through our partners.
7. Data retention
Data on your device stays until you uninstall the game (on iPhone and iPad: delete the app) or clear its data.
Data held by Google, Apple and Unity is kept for the periods set in their policies. Usage statistics in Google Analytics
for Firebase are kept for the retention period set in our Analytics account (at most 14 months).
Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer them, then deleted.
8. Security
All communication of the services above uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). The game does not request permissions for
your contacts, camera, microphone, files or precise location. On iPhone and iPad, the only system question it may show is
Apple's tracking question (section 3).
9. Changes
We will update this page when the game adds or removes a service or changes how data is used. The date at the top shows
the latest version; important changes will also be noted in the game's update notes on Google Play and the App Store.
